If scientific data sources disappear – what could it mean for your research?
Due to cuts in research funding in the United States, there is an increased risk that data sources may disappear or that content may be removed – particularly information containing so-called “forbidden terms.” This affects not only major research funders, research organisations, and government agencies such as NASA, NIH, and NOAAH, but also resources managed by large American universities.

Similar risks have previously arisen in other parts of the world, where funding cuts or other events have impacted access to important sources of information for research.
The library is monitoring the situation
KTH Library is doing its best to support KTH researchers and is continuously monitoring developments. We are aware of ongoing initiatives aimed at safeguarding access to information that is now at risk of being lost.
Do you have questions or concerns about whether a scientific database or other source might be at risk? Don’t hesitate to contact us ! We will be compiling answers to frequently asked questions on our website.
Democratic access to information and knowledge is essential to both academic freedom and democracy. We encourage you to explore our recorded seminar series (in Swedish) on this important topic.
